The AGM Tribute Grant Committee has chosen the 2015 winner! She is Grace Garrett, a college student, where she plays the violin and belongs to the Scottish Country Dancing Club. She is a member of our chapter here in Portland and attends meetings when she is in town. Grace looks forward to learning more about the social significance of dance in Regency England, the great world events that shaped Austen's life, and the lives of women who were able to have careers in Regency England when she attends the AGM in October. We offer Grace our heartiest congratulations!
To those who also applied for the grant this year, we thank you for your applications and encourage you to apply again next year. This year's grant pays tribute to two former members, now deceased. We will always have fond memories of both Kathleen McCann and Virginia Urrutia. Their contributions to our group were extensive. Our tag sale at this year's spring event netted us $545, with most of the proceeds coming from the sale of books from Kathleen's estate. These proceeds have been added to our AGM Tribute Grant account.

Registration for the 2015 AGM is set to open on May 20th. When the call goes out, try to register within the first hour or two, as extra activities fill up quickly!
