2025 Tribute Grant

The Tribute Grant consists of a Tribute Grant Contest and the Tribute Grant Honorees.

Two Tribute Grants are to be awarded in 2025 by the JASNA Oregon-SW Washington Region for attendance at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Baltimore, Maryland -  Austen at 250: "No Check To My Genius From Beginning to End," 10-12, 2025.

In conjunction with the Tribute Grant Contest, we will honor 2 longtime beloved members of our region for their many contributions for going above and beyond in serving our region.

FAQs are outlined below, as well as contest rules and the grant application. For more information, please email our Tribute Grant Coordinator at [email protected]
What is the Tribute Grant?
In 2010, our region set aside $15,000 from our profits at hosting the JASNA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Portland, OR to fund 10 recipients each $1,500 to attend the AGM who haven't attended as a paid registrant. In 2014, we awarded our first grant. In 2020, the pandemic interfered. The Tribute Grant Contest and selection of the Honorees were tabled. In 2023, we resumed the Tribute Grant. In 2024, our region voted to close out the Tribute Grant in celebration of Jane Austen's 250th anniversary by consolidating the 3 remaining grants into 2 grants with each award of $2,250 for 2025 and to designate up to 2 longtime members as honorees.
Why is this grant called a "Tribute Grant?"
  • The AGM Tribute Grant is an annual tribute to beloved members of our region for their many contributions. Tribute Grant Honoree/s are selected each year that the contest is open.
  • The Grant winners also writes up to two thank you notes to the Tribute Grant honoree/s or the families of the honoree/s.
Who is an Honoree?
An honoree is a longtime primary member with membership before the 2010 Portland AGM who has done an enormous amount for our region going above and beyond in serving our region. The honoree need not be a current member if they have relocated, retired, or are now deceased.
How many honorees are there each year?
Our region honors up to 2 long time members for this award in conjunction with the Tribute Grant Contest.
How are the Honorees determined?
The membership nominates honorees and votes on them at the March meeting.
How are the Honorees honored?
They are awarded the title of Honoree for the year. They are profiled here on the Tribute Grant page and with a blog post. They are also announced at our Spring Tea. Honorees need not be present to receive this honor.
Who are the Honoree/s for 2025?
Jennifer Snoek-Brown and Nan Williams.
More information coming soon!
