| Ronald Dunning has continued his work on Jane Austen's Family Tree and unveiled a newly updated web site, "Jane Austen's Family," at the Jane Austen Society meeting at the Chawton House Library in late July 2012.
You can also read an interesting interview with Ronald Dunning on the Jane Austen in Vermont web site. |

An update from your friendly web manager... For the first six months of the launch of our region's web site (January through June 2012), here are some statistics to celebrate:
* Weebly server statistics ** Google Analytics statistics The "Lizzie Bennet Diaries" are a series of short YouTube videos chronicling the life of 20-something Lizzie Bennet. A fun, modern and charming update of Pride & Prejudice! There are 24 web episodes so far, and each episode lasts 3-5 minutes. The first episode is linked below. The "Lizzie Bennet Diaries" web site is here at http://lizziebennetdiaries.tumblr.com, or you can go straight to the video playlist on YouTube here at http://www.youtube.com/user/LizzieBennet. The OxfordWords blog has a brand new feature: the Pride and Prejudice interactive text analyzer. So what's the analyzer all about? As the post states: "Have you ever wondered how often the word prejudice appears in Austen’s novel? Or which character is most often mentioned next to the word happiness? Using our interactive text analyser you can break down this well-loved novel to see which collocates (i.e. those words most often appearing alongside a given word) appear with words such as pride and marriage, discover the frequency of key words and character names in each chapter, and even read example sentences from the book. The analyser gives you the opportunity to dive into the text and explore it from a completely new angle." By the way, the word prejudice appears 5 times in the novel according to the analyzer, and the character Jane is mentioned most often near the word happiness. :) From your friendly web manager... thanks again for all the great feedback on our new web site! To celebrate the first month, January 2012, of our web site, here are some statistics:
** Google Analytics stats A huge THANK YOU from your friendly web manager Jennifer Snoek-Brown. :) The beautiful bouquet of flowers (and accompanying thank you card, see right) I received at last week's meeting makes for a lovely entrance to our home. I smile each time I pass by, and it's truly a delight to take time to "smell the roses." I really appreciate all the great comments and feedback about our new web site. I am so happy to be able to combine my love of Jane Austen with my love of web design. It's been really fun to put together our new site, which I hope continues to reflect the outlook and goals of our friendly region of members. And please let us know about any interesting Austen-related news, links, books, etc. for our home page blog (see our Contacts page to send us an email). One of best things about having an online home for our region is to highlight our shared interests! ![]() Click to view this image and more at Austencats You can combine your love for Jane Austen AND cats with this site, Austencats, by member Debbie Guyol and friend Pamela Jane. It is a web site "for Jane Austen-lovers, cat-lovers, and people who love to laugh (in other words, just about everyone)." There's a Mr. Darcy-Cat contest, plus a "Purr and Petulance" photo gallery. Fun! FYI and for future reference, Austencats is also now included on our Links page. |
